I can confirm via my newly purchased Redmi Note 7 that sound comes from only 1 speaker on the bottom right side. After googling and going through a few forum posting, seems that's the way it is. The set of holes on the left side seems to be for decoration; maybe the mic is there.
Overall, I like the phone. A few things to consider:
- It takes a nano sim card. If you have a micro sim card you need to get it replace.
- The back camera physically sticks out. The material is supposed to be somewhat scratch resistant, but I find it undesirable.
- If you are thinking about getting the black-colored phone, try to go see it in person or find some Youtube videos with close-up shots. I don't like the shiny red/blue all that much, but the less shiny black looks bad.
- This is the first device I have that uses USB-C for power/connection. So the 80 or so USB cables I have accumulated over the past decade won't work with it and I will need to get a few new USB-C cables for backups and chargings in the office.
