Over the year since I purchased the Acer VX15, I had not been able to adjust the brightness. The hardware buttons do not work, and the software control fails as well. I just assume it is an issue with Windows 10 and hope that eventually some update will fix the issue. Meanwhile, I am living and working with a really really bright screen.
While looking to resolve the problem again recently, I finally come across a solution that works -- change the monitor driver from PnP-Monitor to the generic monitor driver.
