I am sad that the bridge mode of the TP-Link TL-WR702N thing-da-ma-jig (nano router) does not work with adhoc networks. More specifically, the nano router cannot function as a bridge to share the internet connection via an adhoc access point created by Windows (Vista).
The idea was to have my laptop share its wired internet connection using WIndow's Internet Connection Sharing wirelessly. However, because by default windows create an adhoc network for this, devices such as iPads and windows phone does not connect to it.
My dashed solution was for the nano router to function as a bridge, connect to the adhoc network, and then allow my iPad and windows phone to connect to the nano router. Alas, that was not meant to be.
I googled around and find this unanswered threat on the TP-Link forum outlining a similar situation: http://forum.tp-link.com/showthread.php?2055-TL-WR702N-client-of-Ad-Hoc-wifi-network
You might ask -- why don't I just buy a wireless router and plug the wired connection to that? Well, my ISP requires login using 802.1X authentication for internet access.
