The appropriately abbreviated WTF section on Twitter annoys me--"WTF" as in "Who to Follow". As far as I can tell, WTF seems to be a permanent "feature." After googling for a while, the only solution I find unfortunately requires an ad blocking browser extension.
I used the instructions at http://howdoitknow.net/tutorials/how-to-hide-who-to-follow-section-on-twitter/. Although the instructions there are for AdBlock Plus, the important thing to know is that you need to block the string "twitter.com##*.wtf-module".
For AdBlock under Chrome, go to the extension's Options menu. From there, click custom, and add the aforementioned string in the "Manually edit your filters" section. (See picture.)
The blog entry at http://sarahwallace.wordpress.com/2010/08/06/how-to-get-rid-of-who-to-follow-on-twitter/ suggests that I "clicking on 'View All' then hitting the 'x' button or 'hide' on all of them makes them go away", but I gave that up after clicking "x" 30 times and there was still no shortage of suggestions.
