The link to signup is here: http://www.tableausoftware.com/academic/students. For those that want to test out the software first – Tableau Desktop gives you a free trial period. So, you can just download and play. There is also Tableau Public at http://www.tableausoftware.com/public/, which does not open workbooks saved by Tableau Desktop, and only allows saving your work and data to the Tableau public data server where your workbook and data are accessible to anyone. It also has a storage limit of 50mb. Tableau Desktop allows you to safe your workbook and data locally, in addition to the option to save it to the public data server.
